The National Marine Aquarium is the largest public aquarium in the UK welcoming 300,000 visitors per year. Their awe-inspiring exhibits, featuring marine animals from near and far, provide an environment that intrigues, inspires and motivates our visitors to engage with our conservation messages and hopefully do their bit to help protect the marine environment. This is why Mount Tamar is teaming up with the Aquarium to have a partnership that will inspire their learning and enable them to interact with the public in many different scenarios.
As a self-funded charity the aquarium has a range of business pillars that support their charitable work and mission to connect people with our Oceans. This will let the school access many key teams to aid our STEM, vocational and academic learning. Such as:
Have guided group tours/workshops per term on various subject areas / themes: Maths, English, Careers, Science
Three visits from the Aquarium to Mount Tamar per year for assemblies
Work experience possibilities
Access to special events tickets such as “Squidfest”

JustAddH2O is the National Marine Aquarium’s award-winning Learning Programme. Their dedicated Discovery & Learning team works in partnership with other education experts to provide a continuously developing programme that supports all teachers. From our Foundation Stage to Key Stage 4 and beyond they will be able to deliver our curriculum outcomes and learning objectives.
For over twenty years they have forged a reputation for excellence in informal education, working with tens of thousands of school pupils each year. This experience is paramount for our learners. They deliver fun, interactive learning experiences outside the classroom. But they don’t stop there, as they can and will come to the school as well and even meet us at the beach!
As well as being inspired by the amazing exhibits, they believe students learn best through hands-on experience – that’s why they have invested in a dedicated learning centre: the JustAddH2O Headquarters, which we will have full and dedicated use as part of our partnership.
